1970 olds 442, had the factory posi, and a 455 cid. engine, it would light 'em up at 30 mph, and burn 'em all day. That was with over 100,000 miles on it and never worked on. I should have kept that one.
1975 Camaro. 383 stroker 625 horse on the dyno at the rear wheels, plus another 350 horse worth of nitrous. Driven on the street. Will do 12 flat hard on the brakes (no rollcage) on the motor. Had it since I was 19 and it sits out in the garage right now. Has 52 miles on it in the last 3 years. It originally was auto, I converted it to stick (muncie 4-spd). Worked ok with the stock motor, but my first 350 buildup used to split the muncies in half longwise(the input gear would try to climb up off the countershaft gear) so I switched it back to auto, but even my auto will put the car sideways hitting third gear. 3500 stall and 3.73's out back. Would trade it in an instant for a nice '67 Chevelle or '55 Belair.
1964 Plymouth Fury; 426 Stage 3 (dual 4 bbls on a cross-ram manifold, 4 speed trans, 3.23 axle ratio). HP listing was 425 but that was known to be conservative.
WOW! Would that thing lay 'em down. Got a few 'wheelies' too.
"55 Chevy with a 425hp 396; couldn't keep trans in it. 1970 340 Dodge Swinger. I still have the first new car I bought on stands, in my shop; 1970 340 Duster. I had just finished installing the 4-link, tubs, and 4.88 Dana spool when I stopped.
I like my '76 50th Anniversary T/A. Ya know, the original Smokey and the Bandit car. Made just over 2000 of 'em. Got it used and it now has about 48,000 miles on her. Sweet ride - fun to take to the HS football games and see the young snots oggle over an "old man's" car! HA!
My favorite car was a 1968 Wildcat with a 430 in it 140mph+ only car ever got me in the quarter mile was a 1967 Bel-air 4-door original 327 turbo-fire 327 (67 stringray motor) great car though factory air, electric everything!
i have a 67 mustang fastback with a 302 boss i found built to about 500 hp car scares the snot out me. i,m now working on a 48 f1 pickup i'm going to put a blower on the flathead work the suspension and fram and leave the body alone. the only thing i wish i still had was a 70 mavrick grabber
Bought new off the showroom floor, 1969 Dodge Dart GT with a 383. Auto trans, no air or power steering or power brakes. Sure sounded good when you put your foot in it. Duel points were a pia.
I also had a 1970 340 duster. It was touted as being in the "Rapid Transit System". For a small engine it could move pretty well and gave fits to 1968-69 Roadrunners with the standard 383.
My first 66 SS 396 Chevelle was good, my cousin had a Shelby 500KR Convertible that was great..... but the car that still makes my day is a classic 1963 Corvette Split Window.
Now my focus has changed..... Toyota Prius with enough muscle to pass gas stations.....
I always like the AMX, but never had anything like it. My first car in that era was a $100 Simca--47 cu in of snarling fury.
Another sleeper of the day, and one that still really looks good today was the Studebaker Avanti with the R4 package. Now and again one tempts me in the old car trader magazines.
66 Chevell with a small block stroked is my favorite car.
I had a 73 Torino sport with a cleavland done up with quenced heads.A very go fast car.Made it to the the beer store and back in under 10 minets.Wish i still had it.
1966 Chevelle SS 396. I had it in the mid 70s. I put a built 396 (500hp) and B & M trans in it. It would do mid 11s in the quarter with a full bodied car. That was my favorite muscle car
I also had a 1964 and a half Olds 442. Very Rare. I sold it to my brother and in turn he sold it to Waynes Machine Shop which crashed it in turn 9 at Riverside Raceway during a Permatex 200 race
