After removing bad gas (water) from the tank and all lines throughout the motor I am still having an issue. Sometimes the motor cuts off completely. It happens at Idle and up on a plane. If I pump the bulb the motor will keep running. At the house on the hose I can watch the water level in the clear Filter drop eventually to the bottom of the actual filter part (making the filter canister about 2/3 full) and then it will stall. I have replaced the 3 Low pressure pumps, and as stated before all lines and tank are clean. I have not replaced the bulb but now I am thinking that maybe its bad. It will pump up full and hard but will not stay hard all the time. It won't suck flat and there is gas in the bulb but you need to pump it. Is the bulb suppose to be firm, could it have a bad anti reverse flow valve or something.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks Rodbolt,

I did clean the VST and screen, but is there a way to salvage the gasket cause its pricey. It expanded last time and had to buy a new one. I would like to check it again.

So your saying that even though the fuel level gets below the filter part of the element it is still feeding the LP pumps.

I havent changed the Filter Element on the motor, I will pick one up and do that.

Rodbolt gave me a tip for using the VST o-ring again. gently use some vaseline on it then lay it in the channel of the VST canister. You may have to work it for a little while, but it worked fine for me. Another RodBolt University tip that has paid off.

Thanks Capt. Paul,
I'll try that and take another look at the VST tank and screen too.

I've been down that path with the VST gasket too. I was given a re-use tip that worked for me. Put it in the deep freeze for a while. It will contract from the cold and then you can get it in while it's still chilled.

I'm not sure just how vital the gasket is though. It seems logical that the low pressure pumps feed the tank and the fuel pump pulls it from the tank to inject it. It's not like the tank is under vacuum it seems. Just a thought.

By the way, where are the injector filters that were mentioned earlier in this thread?

the filters are in each injector, use the mercury part number 35-17422 to replace the OX66 injector filters.
if that oring leaks you will have a fuel leak.

Good info Rodbolt; as always. I've not tried it without the filter but you've clarified my speculation to have been wrong.

What would we do without you?

Are these Merc filter screens the same for the 4-stroke injectors used in the popular 115, 150, and 200-225-250 series?

no
the above filter part# will only fit OX66.
the rest I havent found a source for, yet.
I did make a tool, using a self tapping screw,to remove the other screens but cant find replacements.
