I have a 2003 mercruiser alpha one.3.0 and my belt gives about 1.25 inches each way. Could that be why at higher speeds the motor revs up but doesn't go faster..sounds like its slipping. Is a belt change someone with basic skills could do? Thanks!
Thanks for your response. How do you tighten the belt and do you have any idea what might cause the boat to rev when push on throttle but not go faster if its not the belt?

Ayuh,... The alternator has a swivel bolt,+ an adjustment lock bolt, 1 on each side, loosen each, tighten the belt, then the bolts in the reverse order I mentioned 'em in....
The loss of propulsion is, My Guess, the Coupler is Bad...
It's mounted between the aft of the motor,+ the drive...
I will do that..It has been helpful on other threads. Do I need to switch to another propeller (which I would need to get ) or just switch out the Flo Torq hub?????????
Before replacing the prop, you can simply mark a line on both the hub and the prop itself. After running with the drive engaged for a few moments, check to see if the hub and prop marking is still lined up. If not, then you have a spun prop/hub.
