Is this engine (5.0 liter) made by Volvo? Just bought Larson Senza 206 w/ this engine installed and just curious if it's a GM or Ford block. Haven't picked up boat yet. Also got a surprise when I learned it was carburated and not fuel injected. Lots of starting probs with previous Bayliner with carbed 5.7 Merc. Dealer tells me this has "quickstart" which solves problem. Any comments would be appreciated.

Re: Volvo Penta 5.0

Depends on how old the boat is. Ford and GM made a 5.0 (technically ford made a 4.9 but they call it a 5.0). If it is a newer boat, it's not a Ford, they have been out of the marine business for I/O's for about 15 years.

And yeah, they still carb new marine engines.
