Rookie, drive info in my sig, sorry for any gaffs in terminology.
I've read section 4 of Service Manual 6, not much info on the below question.

Started working on bellows/shift cable last night. I've read numerous posts here suggesting to fish a wire with the old cable when pulling out. My cable pulls through a "hose" with a brass fitting on the end that the jam nut runs into. Inside that fitting, the opening is just large enough for the shift cable. How do y'all attach anything to the cable that will fit through this opening so as I pull the cable out the stern of the boat I am left with a wire to pull the new shift cable in:confused: Thanks for any help.

Re: Alpha 1 Shift Cable

Anybody have any suggestions before I go home and just pull the cable out. Trying to avoid a sphincter pucker moment when I go to put this thing back together:eek: Thanks for any advice.

I may be wrong, but I think the hollow threaded end of the cable (one that the jam nut is threaded onto) unscrews from cable itself. Check the new one. If so, just cut all the old crap off and tie your line to it. It's all gonna be new anyways.
