I have an 86 125 force. finally got it running after alot of trial/error mostly error. took it out for a quick trip across the lake the other day. it would scream! hit the trim and we really took off, the lake was smooth as glass. went out today and it ran good and steady at about 1/2 throttle @ 25 according to speedo but @ wot it would bog and my friend sqeezed the bulb and it picked up a little but not like it should. I have replaced; chec valves 3, diaphram and gasket, found recipt where carbs were rebuilt 3 mos ago, i have had the bottom carb off because it was leaking from the top of the bowl, i blew some air thru it seemed to be clean and clear. not sure what kind of shape the top carb is in looking thru the throat looks clean. could a float be the problem? how do you sync these carbs. i just made sure everything was in the closed or what looked to be the natural resting place for the connecting rods, with manual operation, everthing appaered to be operating in time together and smoothly. i have the idle mixture set at 1 1/4 turns from lightly seated per manual specs any help would be appreciated

Sounds like you are on the right track. I would do a good carb cleaning. Maybe replace the floats, it could be saturated or starting to disintegrate. Definitely replace the needle, seat and gaskets on the carbs.

Sounds like your not getting enough fuel. The vent open? The built in tanks have a vent line that bugs get into and clog up.Do a comp test, just to make sure.
If it's sat for a while gunk forms in the tank and can clog the pickup tube.
Then if all that's ok then.
The linkage should open the carbs at the same time and the butterfly in the back should all be moving at the same time and going to the same position.J

Re: bogging out @wot b ut evrything is new?

thx for the help guys. I agree with you in that Im not getting enough gas into the cylinder. i am leaning towards the bottom carb as the problem since its the 1 that has been off and on and leaking and such. last night when I took the bowl off the carb I noticed something that look like snot ( excuse the crudeness of description) it was clear, slimey and a little sticky. im thinking silicone, but where did it come from? like I said I have had the fuel system almost completely apart at least the parts I understand. I have done nothing with the recovery systems as I dont fully understand them flow dirction, how it works, is it driven by fuel pump. even @ that I dont see that part of the system causing my problem. I didnt even think of letting off the pressur in the tank. Im using a plastic 6 gal tank for now. and have had some trouble out of it with the hose sucking flat which i fixed with a more rigid hose. I'll keep you guys informed as to what I learn.

oh yeah! another odd thing Im not sure about ; on the hose on a cold start it takes a few times to get it started ( normal ) as on the water heres where it changes, on the hose after it gets warmed up you just bump the key and she fires right up, on the water you have to crank and crank choke it and throw it into gear all @ the same time she'll take off like a rocket until it starves for gas. just thought that was weird and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. the first time I took it out after getting it going good on the hose I realized that there is a hose idle setting and a otw idle setting. I made the necessary adjustment and she did great!!!! but I on ran for about 10-15 min. when I went out yesterday it started normally, ran at idle for about 10 min. I took off 1/2 throttle,, then slowly advanced to wot, ran great for 10-15min then started the bogging issue, and was hard to get restarted.

check your primer bulb...if you squeezed it and it picked up a little bit, maybe it is collapsing inside.

my guess on this prolem is the fuel tank, if i read this right you said the hose sucked flat, so you put on a more ridgid hose. well i feel your tank is not breathing and your breather on your tank is plugged since you get 10 minutes out of it till it boggs. i would try to run it with the tank cap loose and see what happens?

Re: bogging out @wot b ut evrything is new?

yesterday I took it out and fond some answers butr not all the reason I was having trouble restarting was my idling screw backed out guess i didnt tighten it enuf ran it back in and fired right up. took the cap off the can looked it over good, I think that is part of the prob. left the cap loose ran great @ 3/4 throttle, @ wot fun good for a few min then started bogging but not as much as last time did try squeezing the bulb. havent changed the bulb yet as it "LOOKs" pretty new and feels entact. compared to 1 my neighbor loaned me to try. I swear I think that bottom float has been knocked out a little. Im gonna try to adjust that now and get back later.

did you try to reset the floats , i set them wrong on my 125 and had a bog problem at 3/4 trottle it would idol all day but once you would go more than half trottle it would bog soon after that. i reset my floats and it fixed the problem right away.

yesterday, I took off the bottom carb, and sure enuf, the float was way out. I played around with it til it sat parrell with the body with carb upside down. put it back together took it out and it did GREAT! I was really impressed, but after I stopped for a few min. started it back up took off easy and slowly increades throttle to full, did good, planed out quick trimmed it out and then it started the missing again. Im running a 50:1 ratio with good marine 2cycl oil. Im still running on the plastic tank I completely removed the vent cap and I drilled a 1/16" hole straight through so there is no way a vaccuum is causing it. I dont know? mabey the fuel pumps weak already? trash?

is it still bogging out like it is starving for fuel or is it just missing?

Re: bogging out @wot b ut evrything is new?

you should also check the float setting on the rest of your carbs.
