hi,
ive got a Seahorse 8hp and it has fallen into questionable repair, and would like to fix it up. although i lack the repair books or the year of the outboard.
the details are
Model# AJ8RLCOB
Serial# A706488
2 cylinder

Any help much appreciated

Model# J8RLCOB is a 1985, not sure about the A in front of your number.

the "A" may mean an Australian model.

yeah i found the year out soon after posting.
is there anywhere to get the service manual for this model though?

managed to get it running. although i have not got the correct fuel attachment on the tank side of the engine.
does anyone know which fuel attachment clip will connect to the engine?

You need an OMC type connector. There are others ( Yamaha ??) that look the same but are very very slightly different and therefore don't fit ... you can guess how I know this!

Also it is probably worth getting a genuine OMC one as there are cheap ones out there that will leak and let you down.

OEM manuals are available from KEN COOK Not cheap though.

3rd party manuals attempt cover too may different models from too many different years.

hi yes i know the differences between them, but this has an oddity. it has a square plastic pin sticking out the length of the alignment pin, about 6-8 mm below the alignment pin.

was there a different connection pin used by johnson/omc during the '85 period?
as a standard OMC connection will not fit the body of the connection is in the way.

I only found one number for the hose end fitting but I have found several different numbers for the motor fitting.

Your A prefix might be the clue as I found one number for models with A, C or E serial number prefixes.

Still all apparently took the same hose fitting though
