To cut a long story short bought a boat this year in march after lots of engine trouble and a few hundred quid turns out it needs a full overhaul. Not a good start to the year lol. So bought a force 125 from a dealer with warranty may i add his words not mine may come back to bite him in the *** lol. fitted engine after waiting for a part to arrive for it that was damaged. Eventually got it on the boat and all set up. Took it out the try the engine, started ok sounded ok so we left the harbour opened up the throttle again ok sounded good but then slowly died after min or two put in to neutral and it cut out would not start again. took it home tried new fuel line checked spark at all plugs eventually compression tested and top 120 next down 118 3rd down 0 cant compression test bottom as tester to long to screw in. phoned the dealer was told to tilt engine and spray diesel in to cylinder and leave over night. never heard of that before but there u go. any suggestions of whats wrong and should i just take the engine back. after spending 1000 on the engine and a few hundred collecting and fitting i feel i should not having these problems.

If it has a warranty, make it his problem. Maybe he is thinking it has a stuck ring and the diesel will loosen it up, break the carbon loose.

No doubt, I would take it right back - lost all compression on #3??? $1000 too much for that headache!

with zero compression on the 3rd its probably beyond a stuck ring, with a stuck ring you should get some compression out of it. also cylinder 3 works the fuel pump no comp = no fuel take it back

If 0/#3 is because you couldn't connect the tester, try loosening the fuel tank cap. Maybe a vacuum buildup. Vent obstruction?
