I am considering buying a 1756 side console Triton aluminum hull. The dealer has a 60hp ELPT EFI Bigfoot engine with a 13 1/4 x 15 propeller. As the bigfoot lower units are designed for heavy and, or slower loads i am concerned about top end and overall performance. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If that's a 17.5' foot boat you may be disappointed performance wise and that prop seems way to much. I have a non big foot 60 EFI merc on a 16.5' Alumacraft side console (Classic 165 CS) with a 10.5 x 13 prop and I do 32 at 5800 loaded down with 3 people. Does the bigfoot have a different gear ratio that the standard one? If not, with that prop you will never be in the right RPM range (5500 - 6000) at WOT.

The gear ratio on the bigfoot is 2.33:1 and on the regular foot it is 1.83:1

The BigFoot lower unit is the same leg as used on the 75 & 90 HP motors hence they can run the larger diameter and higher pitch numbers because the of the deeper gearing. A 10-3/8 prop is for use on the 1.83 gearcase, not the BigFoot. A 13-1/4 x 15P prop sounds about right for the BigFoot-60. I just ran those numbers through the prop calculator and at 5500 RPM the BigFoot with a 15P prop should provide 30 MPH. I use a slip factor of 12%.

Ahhh..ok that's kind of what I figured :)

On a side not, you will love the motor. Very smooth and quiet and incredible on gas. ;)
