More water out starboard side exhaust on 3.0LX mercruiser. Why?

Looked at a 97 bayliner capri with 3.0LX mercruiser today. While running with the muffs on I noticed a lot more water out the starboard side exhaust right at back of transom than the port side. Is this normal? If not what would cause this?

Thanks!

yup it's normal on a inline 4 or 6 cylinder, because it only has one exhaust port. The v8's have a y pipe and that's why it comes out both sides on a v8

My 98 3.0l does the same thing. But there is actually 2 exhaust ports on the lower side of the transom but only one inlet from the engine side. I think it is simply the path of least resistance for the water. I get a lot from one side and just a spray from the other.
