overrev with stock prop

Hi, I have an 18' glastron with a volvo 4.3 (190hp) and penta sx drive. My prop is 14 1/4" x 23. According to the manual WOT should be 4200-4600 rpm. Im running 5000+ wot. Would a four blade prop help. I don't care about top speed as much as hole shot for skiing. Any advice?

I dont think a prop change is what you need.
If you want to keep the hole shot for skiing, just dont use WOT. Back off the throttle and stay in the max RPM range. You dont drive your car on floor all the time do you?

Is is possible my tach is not accurate? Would a 4 blade 21 prop improve the hole shot?

I would say a 23" prop wouldn't be likely to over rev.Yes a a 21" 4 blade would do very well.
I don't think you need to drop that far.Double check your tach before making any changes.
