Today @ 3 pm it was 104 degrees F and 85% humidity and not a breath of breeze. Heat index of 112 deg +. Dropped a feeder leg to the Academy and had to shut down all A/C. Overseeing roof work this afternoon was pure torture. Nowhere to find relief. Broke all time records for July 6 and hottest day in 10 years. Picked up a new A/C for the bedroom (old one was 15 yrs old and tired). Gonna go test it for a while...

Got us beat ... Knew it was going to be a scorcher last night when at 11pm it was still 80 degrees. 88 this morning at 9am. 100 at 3:30. Down to 96 at 4:30. Call for hotter and even more humid weather tomorrow. It ALMOST feels as hot as Ghana ... another 10 - 15 degrees and we will be there.

Across the sound in CT, I'm sitting here with the A/C on HIGH and I'm still kinda warm!!

I own a convertible and a boat - you know it's hot out when I have no interest in either one!!!

I imagine out on the sound it'd be a few degrees cooler, but I don't want to drive down to the boat just yet.

Here in S.IL June was the 7th hottest in 100 yrs. Our high humidity sends the
heat index into triple digits. And July and August are typically the hottest months.

Darned hot in Ontario cottage country. Whole lot of water sports going on here. Costing a fortune in gas to keep them all cool !!!
On the plus side our bedroom is the only air conditioning in the cottage !!:D
We are sleeping well !! can't say that for the rest of them though !!! Well, they are young, they can take it.:):D:)
Living areas are extremely well insulated though so it is not unbearable.

I spent the first 18 yrs. of my life with NO air conditioning.

Man, now that I'm a "semi" old fart I can't live with out it.

Noise is way down !!! After a full day of draining my wallet of gas money, watersports, good food, an evening fishing session and a campfire they are ready to hit the hay about the same time as Mrs Ken and I :D

Re: in the red...

I've been getting complaints from the young girls that work in the drive through windows at our stores. I sat in the parking lot in my air conditioned van observing them. They would leave the window open with this heat wave going on. So after a half an hour I walk in and asked them if they keep the window open when it is cold out. Each one answered NO. I then said, "You know it works the same way when it is extremmely hot out". Shut the window and in due time your work space will cool down. Apparently they didn't believe me since I would still go by and see the window wide open. Stupidity deserves what stupidityy gets.

Yes it is HOT and it is even hotter on a roof working on HVAC units that are stressed to the max. It seems like the fluids leave my body as fast as I can pour them in. It always seems like I'm on the roof during the extreme temps when old units just want to give up.....SS

Re: in the red...

On one hand it's awful working outside in weather like this, (framing, roofing, etc) but on the other hand we ARE working.
So maybe a little whining now and then but NO complaining. Just lots of water, sunscreen, and a good hat.
