Temp sensor removal?

Howdy,
Working out the bugs on my 1986 CC 210, with a 260 Mercruiser with a Alpha One.

My temp gauge is not working, so I did a few tests, and grounded the wire to my temp sensor, and the gauge pegs. I ordered a new sensor. Tried to remove the old one, and it would not turn. So I have been hitting the old one with liquid wrench stuff over the past couple of days, and it still won't move.
I don't want to break anything, so I thought I would see if anyone had any advice, or recommendations? I am not sure if a special tool is needed or if my impact wrench would just break it off?

Thanks in advance,
Bob

It would be real hard to break the base....
I would use the proper socket & something to add leverage, like a breaker bar with a pipe on it, if neccessary.....;)

Thanks,
is there a certain socket or tool to use, or just a deep socket?
