3.0GS MEFS Volvo Penta not accelerating

My head gasket started leaking so had it replaced, while it was down the head was suposed to have been checked and reworked, valves, guides, seals. After this it ran fine for about a month and started missing getting on plane but would pick up and run fine. Now in neutral if you give fuel slowly it will rev to WOT. But in gear it will not rev over 2000rpm it pops through carb and rpm drops to about 1800. I've rebuilt the carb, installed an inline filter, and pressure gauge which holds 5-7psi, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ignition module. I've also tried to adjust the timing but it doesn't seem to help any.
Any suggestions or should I just let a shop keep it a while and go though it?

Ayuh,... Still sounds like a Crud in the fuel problem, or the carb is just Worn Out....

I've drained the tank when put new pump on and when got carb back both times filled and added 4power additive to try dissolve any gunk. Is there a way I can check the carb?

Check your compression again. What was the cause of the original failure/problem?

The original problem was a blown head gasket. I had that fixed it ran fine then started acting up so I started on fuel system.

compression has slight leak but takes a while to notice

If you had read the original post you would have seen that the carb was just rebuilt and the only way I know of rebuilding is to take it apart.

Huh,..??..??..??..??

A new or rebuilt engine will have some compression leakage.

If you can't help just say it or do not say anything.

I would greatly appreciate any help but quoting what has already been said and just type emotes is not helping anything but to run your post count up.

Any takers or should I just pay $70 per hour?

I'm not sure what it is called but could the coil pack or whatever it is called be the problem? It is about all I can think of. And if so is there anything besides swapping it out that you have to do?

I am also curious. What do you mean by that? Did you measure the compression?

Yes, I did over all four cylinders the range was about 7-8psi difference all above 140psi. So all built pressure about the same.

After this I let each sit to see how long took to bleed down and you could tell a difference after a few min but I didn't think that would be an issue as each built up and oil could have dripped down or guage could have a leak.

The only thing you are testing there is the shrader valve in the compression gauge hose assembly. The best engine will not hold compression when not turning.

Okay that is what I thought may be happening. Well overall is that a good compression level? And if so any ideas?
