4.3L Mercruiser Dies During Start

1996 4.3LX Gen+. New charged battery, new spark plugs/wires, distributor cap, rotor. Ignition coil two years old. I had the three position switch checked at local marine shop. Checked good. I turn ignition switch to "run" and get a tone. I turn ignition switch to "start" and engine starts with combustion and everything. I release the switch back to "run" and the engine dies. Any ideas?

12 v from the key switch(purple wire) thru the harness to the engine harness plug to the coil.
Your missing the 12v with the key in the "on" position

i have 1990 omc 4.3 dont want to start seen like a weak spark but should i have 12v to + side coil dont know what else to check

Ebow, you need to start your own thread with your question. It gets confusing as hell with 2 different topics going in the same thread.

I bow to your superior wisdom/experience/knowledge. The lanyard was out and the kill switch was in "Stop". I can only say....Duh!
