Came across this boat while on my way to look at another that unfortunately is already sold. Dealer was asking $6995 for it and I got him down to $5800. Claims the engine is new and is still under the year warranty. Supposed to take it out to demo on Tuesday so I'll have a more definitive opinion on this thing.

For now is there anyone able to give me advice; is this a good deal, or should I keep waiting for a better one.
Boat fits my needs perfectly (college student looking to probably sell it in 2 years or so).

Thanks alot,
Jason

I usually advise people to avoid bayliner, but if it's cheap enough and serves the purpose, should work.

FWIW NADA has a value on the 1995 1850 at $2900. Value will vary a bit by location, but roughly double would be an odd increase.

That boat looks really clean from the pictures - that could be part of the reason for his elevated price. That being said, I think the NADA advice given is worth noting - at least use that for bargaining power. Heck you got him to drop it a grand as it is - seems he could go even lower. Regardless, I don't think you'll have a problem getting your money back out of it in a year or two.

If it had a 4.3 or a 5 liter, I'd say $5500, with a new 3.0, $4000

Boat looks clean from the pics...how does the engine and out drive check out??

San Diego and SoCal prices are strange, depending on the drivetrain and overall condition of the boat:

A 1995 18' Deep V anything with a Volvo Pento 3.0 will fetch $5000 or less
A 1995 18' Deep V anything with a Merc 3.0 will fetch around $5000 or more

A 1995 18' Deep V anything with a Merc 4.3/5.0 will fetch around $6500 to $7000

Again, these prices reflect the condition of the boat and trailer:
* everything clean on the inside and out
* no leaks of any sorts
* less than 400 hours
* out stable and clean
* everything works as it should
* recent maint done on the boat
* etc..... you get the point

If any of these things are lacking....then we can deduct some $$$ from the asking price.

Boat looks very clean for being a 1995. I don't think I would spend that much on it though. Price is way over NADA.

I never can understand why there are so many boat for sale with brand new or freshly rebuilt engines. Why dump all that money just before you sell it? I guess I can understand a rebuild as it's hard to sell a boat that doesn't run but a brand new motor with rigging would cost more than he's asking for that thing.
