So What Am I Doing Wrong?

I have a 1956 Evinrude 30 hp and converted it using a mikuni pulse pump and removed the reed valves under the the manifold cover. I plugged one of the holes and it seemed to do okay at idle and slow speeds but at WOT it kept losing power. I thought it might be the pressure tank that I used as a single line tank so I changed to a regular single line tank and the same thing happened when I went out today. I'm using the rectangle Mikuni pump that I've heard a lot of people use but I don't know if it can keep up. Any ideas would be great.

Mikuni pump not made for that big engine. probably screwed up a good motor. we do not recommend them.

I highly doubt the engine is ruined considering it would run great as long as I was pumping fuel with the primer bulb.

Remove your conversion and return to original configuration. You obviously did something wrong or made some bad assumptions because it doesn't seem to work correctly ... ;)
