20hp evinrude no reverse-foward

Hi, I just got a 20hp. I don't know the year but it's a old one white top blue leg. It did come with the manual for the year 1965 to 1983. It was working fine but yesterday it stop going in reverse without any noise or anything. Today i took a quick look at it moving the shifter from forward-neutral-reverse and then it stop going forward.
I don't know if there's a ajustable shifter screw or if i have to drop the lower unit???

If someone could give me a hint on where to start please...

On the right hand side about midway down there is a cover with 2 screws holding it in place. Open that up and see if the 2 rods are still connected. Those rods are the shift linkage to the lower unit.

Also, remove the propeller and check the drive pin. It may have sheered.
