I have a 2001 yamaha 60hp. i got the cooling problem fixed, and have another. As i try to speed up, when i get to about 2600rpm the motor will start to bog a little. Same thing as i slow down when it get to around 2600rmp it will get i little kick. i just got it back from the shop where it got the carbs rebuilt new water pump. i did notice that i can pump the primer bulb until it gets hard, but it does stay hard when running or sitting. i did take off my fuel pump and didnt see any leaks.

Re: primer bulb

It would help others if you would finish out your other treads, explaining what you did to fix the problems, if you did get them fixed.
The primer bulb is just for priming the motor for start up , it is on the suction side of the fuel pump and it will not stay firm while motor is running, but should not be sucked flat either.

I would take it back to the shop if still having problems with carbs

Re: primer bulb

thanks for the info. i just took it out for a test and noticed that sometimes the tach will jump up to 6000 or 7000 rpms, and the volt meter is staying around 12. will this cause the motor to run bad, is it the cdi

Re: primer bulb

from what I understand the CDI motors do not need the battery to run, the magnets in the flywheel give the voltage induction into the system.
Sounds like your charging system if not functioning.

possibly your prop hub is slipping, cavitation or ventilation causing the RPM jump or do you think the tach is just jumping caused by your charging system
