I don't know how many different buzzer alarms are on the newer motors but it seems that overheat and low oil are the two main ones and where I'd start.

If it's not revving past half power, and giving an alarm, I'd suggest the carbs are fouled, and causing it to run lean in 1 cylinder, leading to low power, and an overheat situation on that 1 cylinder due to lack of lubrication, causing the alarm.

I agree its time for a carb overhaul. I would pull the plugs to check and see if they are burning about the same. I would do a compression test also.

when the alarm sounds a steady tone, it means the motor is overheating and needs to be shut down like right now!

a continual beep-beep-beep indicates fuel restriction or oil pump malfunction, and a single beep every half minute or so means low oil reservoir level.

I agree, carb rebuild is most likely, but I would do the compression test first, it will tell if you've taken any damage by running it hot. I would also think seriously about changing the water pump impeller, just to be safe.
