1975 Throttle actuator fabrication

My throttle actuator broke (fell apart) at the adjustment screw as I was tinkering with it last night. I look online and the part is no longer available. Anyone try fabrication of parts?

I did see a throttle acutator on ebay, but it is also made of 30 year old brittle plastic, which I am not feeling that excited about paying $75.00 for.

I was thinking a play-do mold of the original part - cast with a jb weld plastic epoxy. Any other ideas?

Gee, How about a picture, or at least the HP of the motor. Is it the plastic rod between the carbs?

Re: 1975 Throttle actuator fabrication

Sorry about that. The motor is a 40 hp 2 cylinder model 402 mercury. The throttle actuator looks like a cam, and opens and closes the butterfly on the carb. The part that broke off is the end that hold the WOT adjustment screw.

My temporary fix was this. I taped up the screw with teflon tape, super glued the pieces toegether with the screw in place, then armored the area fixed with PC-7. Seems to be holding up very well, although I may still try to make a cast of the part.
