Re: Switching props?

Really need to know wide throttle (WOT) RPM with normal load. ( no wakeboarder being pulled). General guess would be a SS 19 pitch 3 blade or 18 pitch 4 blade. check E-bay for a good used prop.

Re: Switching props?

Thanks,my problem is I had my lower unit replaced by Marine Max ,they installed my current prop which is an Express from Turning Point 14.25/21 ,now five years later it does'nt fit,GO FIGURE THAT, something about the retaining nut going on.I've had the worst of luck dealing with these people since year one of new purchase,I told them to just give me my boat back---it'd been in the shop from 6/28 till today to fix existing problem that they screwd up on. FIVE STAR REPAIR CENTER MY A## , SEABROOK TEXAS MARINE MAX

Re: Switching props?

Just dug up paperwork on my mercruiser and the wot is 4400-4800.Is a 14.25/21 a suitable prop for casual tubing and wakeboarding.Just trying to figure out which prop to put another $300.00 or so on.

Re: Switching props?

4 blade props are awesome for what you need. need to know what your current wide open throttle rpms and speed are with the prop you have.

Re: Switching props?

Ok, so we now know the 'recommended' WOT. What we need to know is the actual WOT you can get with your current prop.

Re: Switching props?

will that kill my top end that much, and do you think the 4 blade is maybe a bit too for my boat. remember i'am just a recreational wakeboarder and tuber but i think that would really help my hole shot. thanks

If you're only doing 4200 RPM at WOT, I don't think you'll find a downside to swapping props. You'll be changing the effective "gearing" but will find more rpm at high speeds, which will cancel each other out. You may find more top speed with a 19 pitch.

This is true. Plus better hole shot.

For watersports the Merc High 5 is the only way to go. You wont be dissappointed.
