Does anyone have any info on an "Aquacycle", it's a pedal operated trolling motor you sit on to operate, it's old, most likely eary 1900's.
Thanks

I don't think it's quite as old as you think it to be. I've seen something on the subject in the past.

Try asking about it on the Antique Outboard forum site. (you don't have to join anything) There are a few (very!) collectors who specialize in muscle-powered propulsion devices. I even have one myself that operates on the same principal as a fishes tail even though I can't recall the name at the moment.

When you say Aquacycle, I think of those huge trike looking things they rent at the resorts or the pedal powered pontoon boats. Both are sold under the brand name Aqua Cycle.

How would a pedal powered trolling motor work? I would think that something along the lines of the Hobie drive system used on kayaks would be an option? Or maybe a small paddle wheel? Turning a prop through a gear box would be too much wasted effort and power.

I had an old Sears saw similar to that one. It ran, but the flywheel had a couple teeth knocked out. I sold it at a yard sale last year.

We had a david bradley saw w/ tecumseh engine when I was a kid, that thing ran strong and would make wood all day, but she was a pain when it came to felling timber, Ole david wouldn't run long on his side...knowing what I know now I think it need the float spring.
When I got my first Jonsered, I think it was a 630, I ditched the DB and the homelites forever

My Dad has two of these. One is complete and I think the second one may be missing a pedal and crank arm. You are correct in that you sit on an aluminum seat on top, pedal forward to go forward and backward to go backward. Steering linkage under the seat is operated by leaning to left or right. He may also sell one of them. He just displayed one at a boat show and only one visitor had ever seen one. If you would like him to contact you I could ask him to call you.
