first info on the problem. pachanga 22, 454 gen4, florida marine headers and exhaust. i just built this motor and ran it on land to set timing and such. when i put it in the water i am only getting water exhaust out of one side at idle, i get water exhaust when i pull rpms but it dosent seem to be as much. any idea what would or could cause this?

i included a picture of my boat.

how is it plumbed? some have a Y pipe and equal split of water, some have the water to into one riser and then from that riser to the other.

The second design, by design will have more water flow out of one riser then the other, but you should still get water out of both at idle. If you dont either your pump impeller is shot, or your pump is not sufficient for your setup. or its possible theres a kink in the line somewhere....

What temps are your risers running at?

its set up with a Y housing. impeller was just changed thought that might have been in issue so we knocked that out right off the get go.

Do you have a t-stat in place? If so, what temp?

well thats the case it runs o.k i'm just worried about the uneven water flow. alot of people question it but have no idea why it does it.

just a little hint, with boats if something looks wrong something probably is, more likely than not. Check the hose that carries the water to each riser, You may even have to take it off, start the engine briefly and see if water flows through each easily. messy but easy check. if the same amount of water comes out each side, then there is some blockage in the riser. if not there is something amiss before this point.
trouble shoot it this way and ensure that u check everything, dont just assume that all is well and end up shut down or limping home with expensive damage that could have been avoided by a couple hours of checks.
if there is an equal Y then the water flow should be about equal, unless there is some reason for a difference. ensure the reason is design and not blockage.

It is very normal to have more water going out one side than the other...especially at idle.
