caveating prop

Need some help here. 18' ski supreme stern drive. 351W engine. When taking medium to hard right turns the boat prop seems to slip or get air or something. Doesnt seem to happen when turning left so Im think prop rotation plays a role. But since we are talking about a stern drive(prop is under boat) I have no clue what to do about this. Not like I can adjust much of anything. Any ideas or thoughts?
Thanks

Re: caveating prop

Do you mean DIRECT DRIVE? I think so. and yes prop rotation does come into play. Also generally your perception can be fooled when turning. You tend to think you are turning harder to the side opposite the helm than you really are.

Sorry, yes I do mean direct drive. I understand the perception part but when turning to the right it slips really easy. Wondering what other issues could be at play.

Re: caveating prop

Hmmm, got me. I did find this on another forum.

"Late '80's Supreme boats had a problem with cavitation at high speeds in rough water. The problem can be corrected by reworking the prop to slightly different specs. I've been running a reworked prop on my boat since '91 and haven't noticed any negative side effects...I also haven't experienced the cavitation.

I don't have the specs handy, but if you e-mail me at smithmdsmith(at)yahoo.com, I can get them to you."

You might want to call Kal-Kustom Ent. in Fremont, CA (they make the boat)

Thanks for the try, maybe someone on here will have a solution or at least know why this is happening.
