leaking lower end fluid

i have a 1980 470 I/O that the lower end is leaking the fluid out of the bellow when tilted up what can cause this is it the big o-ring on the lower end or something else i cant find a pic of the lower end any help

Ayuh,... Probably a Seal,... Exactly Where is it leakin',..??
Which bellows,..??

Ayuh,... It shouldn't be Leakin', at All...
Pull the drive,+ see what's up...
Water in there eats the seal up...

i have the lower end off and i dont know what i am suppose to be looking at when i removed it the o-ring on the part where the drive shaft goes didnt seem to be installed correctly could tha cause my problem

maybe a pic of where it is leaking would be a better source for determining what it may be ?

ok so what seals the fluid from coming out around the drive shaft maybe that is were my leak is at


i removed the lower unit and the bellow is full of grease from the lower unit

can i fill the lower unit up and see were the fluid is coming from or how would i go about that

ok found the leak to be coming from the seal on the drive shaft how do i go about changing that

i just had the same problem with my alpha one drive and they had to replace the upper yolk and the seal the upper seal tends to cut a groove in the yolk and when it does it leaks .... with the tools required to fix the problem costing more than the fix i opted to have a marine dealer do it ... not cheap but worth saving the outdrive and bearings which cost a whole lot more

i completed my repair today fixn to go test it out the job was actually easy but i work on cars for a living so i didnt think that it would be to difficult thanks for the info
