1994 Mariah 192z mercruiser 4.3lx 205hp 4bl carb alpha one. Cant figure out this fuel problem! Took the boat out ran it and it stalled approx five times. It would restart and we continued boating. Went home and changed the fuel filter. Took the boat back out and it ran fine for 2hrs. The boat began to stall again and was more frequent until it would not start. Discovered the fuel pump would not kick on or run. So I have done the following. Removed the fuel pump and wired it to a battery. It works. Replaced the pump and tried it, nothing pump will not run. So! I have power to the key, power to the starter and generator, power to the oil sensor when i turn the key, power to the fuel pump when i turn the key. I also tried jumping the two oil sensor wires together and nothing the fuel pump does not run. I ran a hot wire jumper from the battery to the oil sensor and the pump runs and the boat starts and runs. Take the jumper away and the engine stalls.?? Any help?

Sounds like the pressure switch ,when you jumped it to test it ,did you have it hooked to the ign side or the pump side of the switch. Or there is no power to the pressure switch with the key in the "on" position

That proves that part of the wiring is good, try the ign side. if that works, then switch is good and no power is being supplied to the switch from the ign wiring.

Ok thanks! I will try that. You mean the pump should run when I hook the jumper to the other side of the oil sensor terminal?

only when it senses sufficiant oil pressure.just cranking may or may not provide the oil pressure. Running should. if it runs jumped like that the switch is good and there is no power from the ign wiring.
