I,got mercury 225 outboard motor 2 stroke 2001 EFI this year iwent to drive the boat and I could not put into gear or put in reverse it was very stiff I need some Information what i can do to make it easyier to shift I took off the cable to see if the cable was stiff and it was not and could tell me what i needto take it apart and fix

Who rigged the engine Albert? Yourself, or a shop?

were you able to shift the gear when the cable was off? If you cant shift with the cable off you might need to drop the lower unit to see what is going on with it.
