Good Morning,

I have two issues:
1. Lower unit oil is milky.

2. There is, what appears to be, a small amount of outboard oil dripping from my engine when I pull it out of the water. I don't see signs of the leak above the lower unit.

Get a seal kit for your lower unit. You will need 1/4-20 threaded rod and a harmonic balancer puller to get the bearing carrier out to reseal. If you have a manual it will help you do this in no time.

Which manual is the one I should get?

Original evinrude or johnson. You can get them on ebay at a resonable price.

Thanks for the the book link. It has been ordered.

I'm a little unsure of what a 1/4-20 threaded rod is.

As for the harmonic balancer puller, are there special ones for outboards/marine engines?

The Harmonic balancer Rayodunne is talking about is your typical chicken foot gear puller(looks like a chicken foot)

Thanks for all of the help.

Do I need to remove the gearcase in order to replace the sealkit?

Your only problem will be removing the retaining ring that holds the bearing carrier in. Thats why you need the manual. It will have step-by-step instructions and make your life sooooo much easier.
