I have a 1995 Volvo Penta SX Cobra I/O with the Ford 5.8 L engine. I want to change spark plug wires as they are original. Is it possible to use a silicone performance automotive wire set, or do I have to use the volvo marine set?

If anyone can provide a cross reference to the appropriate Ford Automotive wire set, that would be great.

Thanks!

The Distributor, rotor and cap are standard Ford Automotive. I replaced the distributor cap and rotor with standard off the shelf Ford parts from my local parts store, and the ignition coil is a Ford marked part as well. I haven't checked the length of the wireset though. Hmmm!

I'm sorry, I just figured since the part numbers were the same, and the parts identical it would be okay. I had no idea it would cause an accident.

As long as they are for a marine application and not car parts your ok.

You just need a set of auto wires. Nothing special about them except you will need more length to get over the manifolds. All the ignition parts are Ford parts, except the cap. The dizzy the D-coil etc. This cap isn't vented like most auto caps. They are very low profile and the venting is a very small pinhole on top.

I am NOT going to tell you to use the auto cap and seal the hole, but I WILL tell you the marine caps are no longer produced. Whatever is on the market is what is left. The rotor is a standard 351 rotor.

EDIT: I should clarify. The marine cap IS a Ford cap, says motorcraft right on it. It's just a marine version. The auto version has the small pinhole on the top for a vent.
