Okay I have a 23.5 foot welcraft with a cudy cabin weights about 4000 lb with a alpha one. The 350 that was in it blew up. I have had several drag cars and had plenty of motor parts laying around. What I have built is a 383 with around 430 to 460 horsepower. I know the alpha one is only going to handle 300 to 330. I did not know this when I built the motor! Either way it is built and it is what I have to use. I have found heavy duty gears but what else can I do to help the lower unit survive. I am changing the cam so it does not come in real hard. What about prop or anything else I can change. I have read that if I take it easy out of the hole it is better for it. I know it needs a bravo but that is expensive and I know what is said about the alpha but surly someone has done something with one of these. What did people do before there was bravo units?

Re: Alpha one power

Before the bravo there was the TR/TRS drives, which used external transmissions and will not swap in.

I would say it sounds like imminent drive failure any way you look at it, and most here would probobly agree. A prop swap isnt going to change the power and stress being put through the drive.
