85-86 Eska 5hp

My uncle gave me this 85-86 Eska 5hp motor model 14208B. It hasn't been run in a few years. My dad put a little gas in it and it ran for 2-3 mins then it died. I put more gas in it a few days later and ran it, but it died in 30 seconds. I couldn't get it to start again. Both times it started on first pull, just won't stay running. What are the first things I should do to get this ruynning and staying running? thanks for any help!

Did the gas that YOU put in it have the correct ratio of oil mixed with the gas?

I'm pretty sure he used 50:1, but I guess that I will recheck that first
