Does anyone care about college players taking money?

ESPN is making such a huge deal about these college football players taking money from agents. Like they didn't know stuff like that was going on.
And who cares what Reggie Bush did 4 years ago in college. He didn't get caught back then, so there is nothing you can do to him now. Now he is a pro and can do what ever he wants.

If I was him I would gloat about how i got away with it. the saints won't care.

They should be paid anyway, for the money they bring in.

NCAA is for amatuers. Amatuers do not get paid. Bottom line.

I care. I also care that NOTHING happens to the Reggie Bushes of the world, but all the kids there NOW get punished. WRONG WRONG WRONG.

I believe they all get paid somewhere somehow,some get caught some don't, so that doesn't make them any better or any worse of a player,so no I don't care

Actually, I don't care. They are going to continue to do it... and there is nothing I (or anyone else) can do to change it, so its not worth caring about.

The Olympics Games were once supposed to be for amatures...no such thing anymore...take a look at the starting line-up of the USA basketball team. An athelete's entire career can come crashing to a halt from an injury incurred while playing for a college...said college or university , sells tickets to the games,said athelete gets no compensation for career altering injury.... I say let them take the money , they worked hard to get where they are.

Football is a way of life for you, and you will do what is required to "win" on the grid iron, amatuer or pro.
There is a difference between fun and games!!!

They should not be paid but nothing wrong with doing anything that can further your career that does not involve them getting money . Nothing wrong with them going to a fully paid trip to meet with a scout as long as they leave with nothing more than they came with . remember they are where they are because of their ability , checking out options and getting tips or training from pros is them marketing themselves but any type of compensation other than not having to pay for it at all is wrong . If someone wants to spend money trying to get to represent them or help them that is up to the person doing it .

Athletic scholarships are worth tens of thousands of bux. Giving them money as well is making professionals out of them.

All that is necessary for this illegal and unethical practice to continue is that people don't care and do nothing.

i think people forget the value of a scolarship.
but why can't a player talk to an agent in college. Maybe the agent can give him some "gifts" while he is still in school.
I think the NCAA has WAY to many rules about what you can and can not do in college.

I think all Bush did was get paid for a job that he did not work at.

But college is where you prove your self for the pros. It is where you put in your dues to become a pro. so I guess they should not be offically paid. But perhaps wined and dined.

I am with JB on this one also. The problem with receiving gifts is, how big can the gift become before it is remuneration?

I do feel sorry for the players not being paid, and my feelings are that they should be paid like the other students that work for the college. Each player on the roster gets an hourly wage for the hours they put in the weight room and practice field, as well as games and meetings. All on the team would get the same hourly wage and the same hours. Give them a little spending money for their efforts. Some kids come from situations where they need a little more help than the scholarship. More than that, or gifts from boosters or agents and they loose their scholarships and the team is sanctioned.

That is my proposal for the NCAA.

I hate how ESPN thinks we care about this. stop talking about it on sports center if you want ratings.
We don't care about nascar and soccer, and they get that. They don't cover much of that because they know no one likes it. But they don't get this.

Big colleges have more $ to get the best athletes.

I think that college players should be able to accept up to what tuition and rent costs. No more. It should be regulated by an independent party. That way, tey are not getting rich while in school, but their education is paid.

College Sports are a business generating income. Business manipulates the rules that govern to gain advantage. If you thing those practices will change, you are in for disappointment.

I could be lured back to college for a few kegs and cheerleader smiles if anyone's offering?
