I like to know why fast food joints use that awful thin paper. It is so thin you can almost read print through it. A person ends up using three times the amount for one job vs a qood quality brand. I just can't see where the savings would be.

I work for the state at Kent State Univ. and I'll tell you a guy demonstrated figures of a $30,000 savings over the next ten years by saving 3 cents a roll on single ply rather than paying the 7 cents a roll on two ply and got himself a big fat promotion and now holds a higher position.
It doesn't matter that we're buying twice the amount though. We have a saying that goes: The figures lie and the liars figure. The politics over a stupid roll of TP are phenomenal.

Give me an antonym for government: efficient. For the guy at Kent State...looks great on paper...ooh really? Even Toilet Paper? And then we show him how his promotion goes down the drain...literally.

State issue toilet paper. When I was a correctional officer another guard had found about fifty feet of rope made from state issue toilet paper. It makes me wounder what brand of toilet paper would make the best rope.:):)

MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION

Which direction do you use the paper?
Over the top from the front?
From the rear and the bottom?

It is all very subjective and depends on your particular brand characteristics and mounting situation. In my "thinking time", I have made a fairly detailed, albeit limited, study of this.

Given: Using the same single-ply grocery store house-brand (appears to be a Scott clone) at both home and camp.

Observations and conclusions:

Home: Postion B, because if mounted in Position A, it often doesn't tear as required at the perforations and a whole ****load of paper unrolls onto the floor before you can stop it. Does you no good there.

Camp: Position A, because Dad made the dispenser 54 years ago out of a sawed-off section of window shade roller. If mounted in Position B, the roller flips out from the shade brackets and the whole roll tumbles onto the floor. Again, of no use.

So as you can see, you have to adapt to individual circumstances.
