Best method to cut sheet metal corrugated roofing. Metal skill saw blade or jigsaw blade. It will only be like .30 thick.
Will a carbide skill saw blade work? I only need to make 2 cuts from a sheet I have. I need to cover my grand daughters dog house. It is 4 ft wide and about 5 ft long and insulated. Big for a dog house but she keeps 2 dogs in it.

I have heard of guys turning a regular non carbide blade around and using them that way

Thanks for a quick response, seems like years ago I heard that and I have a couple old rusted blades that I don't use.
I do have an old metal cutting blade, but seems like it didn't work well the last time I used it.

Angle grinder and very thin cutting wheel. Nice clean straight cut with no burning. I find the skill saw method horrifically loud. Wear ear protection for what ever method you choose.

backwards blade in circular saw works best
If the steel is painted be sure and duct tape the bottom of the saw or it will scratch it all to heck

Nibbler works great on all sheet steel. Nice cuts no burrs and easy to keep straight. You can most likely rent one for a couple of hours quite cheaply to get the job done.

I looked at a U TUBE video of the nibbler tool. I don't think it would work on corrugated roofing metal because of all the sharp, short ridges. Probably ok for flat thin metal.

Re: Best method to cut sheet metal corrugated roofing

I did an entire pole barn with every method possible short of the shear that is made to match the corrugations. Cut off blades for a skilsaw worked the best (they look like angle grinder blades only larger). They are loud and wear out about every 10-15 sheets but they work the best. I didn't like the steel carbide bits at all. If all I had to do was 2 cuts I'd clamp some 2x4s on either side of the cut and use a sawzall or jigsaw. Clamp the sheets together and just make one cut.

WEAR A FULL FACE SHIELD!!! They all throw alot of junk around.

Depends on the size and frequency of the corrugations. Also depends on the "bit" that you use in the nibbler. Our fab shops use them virtually all the time for similar applications.

What gauge is it? I have a nibbler that I bought at Harbor Freight that works well but depends on the thickness.

It is just standard corrugated roofing metal. Not all that thick. Hopefully I will have time tomorrow or the next day to get busy on it.
