I've followed instructions in the manuals which indicates to install lower unit with gear housing in Neutral and I've made sure the lower unit is in Neutral but when I tighten up the bolts the upper shift shaft is pushed upward. Manual says to re-align shafts with light hammer taps using punch but have no idea where to hammer.
While in this position the motor goes to Neutral and Rev but when I shift the gears housing to Fwd the prop never goes to forward and still spins freely like in Neutral.
I've spent way to many hours trying to figure this out and can't find a thread to answer my dilemma. I'm ready to bring into dealer but would appreciate any last advise as I'm sure it's a simple issue.
