I have a 115 hp 6 cylinder mercury outboard that when I try to accelerate from neutral the motor stalls.I checked and there is no accelerator pump on the motor and it does have an inricher system.The motor is around a 1989.If I keep trying it will evenualy go.

Re: 115hp mercury stalling

Bumping your thread up, since it was unanswered. Give us some history of the recent maintenance, if any. For example, when were the: fuel lines, primer bulb, connectors, fuel pump, carbs rebuilt or replaced? I am no expert, but if you post up the maintenance history, or lack there of, an expert here will diagnose the problem. Sounds like it might be a fuel pump problem. We'll see what the boyz say. Good Luck.

Re: 115hp mercury stalling

Every problem with my mercury's or force by mercury is fuel pressure problem start with that. Maybe do carb rebuild, seafoam in gas cant hurt either. On my mercury it was getting more oil than gas little rubber in fuel pump turned over. I wonder if alot of these problems are gas and wrong oil. Stick with what oil manufacter recommends not havoline,walmart. You should be ok with most semi syn's though.

Is it a 4 or 6 cylinder? It could be carb problem,stale fuel or weak fuel pressure. A little more information will be helpful...and the wally oil is very very good oil...

There are a couple of things that doesn't make sense in your opening post. You say it's a 89 inline 6 without the enricher valve.

The inline 6 was discontinued in 88, and the enricher valve replaced the choke in the early 80's. Can you post a picture of it with the cowlings or give up the serial #?

I just bought the motor and the owner said he had it tune a year ago.I did replace plugs and fuel filter.As far as the year he told me it was an 89.It worked great then one day last week this problem started.{I posted earlier of high reving so I did as people on here said and replaced the prop and the reving was cured thank you all for your help.}

Re: 115hp mercury stalling

Looking at the pictures the forth one is the one.My serial number is oa732564. I do have to pump the fuel ball during idle or it goes soft and motor stalls.
