OMC 120HP Impeller Direction Help! with pic`

Hey there just having oveheating issue with my OMC 2.5L 120HP boat. A buddy was changing his impeller as well and we compared the two impellers. His boat is a 3.0L 140 hp. Both has identicle stern drives. As you can see in the picture both impellers are in opposite directions. The one on the left is the 140hp and the right side is the 120hp. We are trying to figure out which one is right.

left is correct way, but the housing is broken from ice - don't reuse it

that's from a later 400 or 800 series with thru prop exhaust - someone left it over the winter tilted up with the prop uncovered.

Thanks again for helping me out Howard sterndrive. Been very helpful. Ya the one on the left side was cracked and my buddy got a replacement for it. So you think this could be the reason for the overheating becuase my impeller was in backwards?

maybe- I always figured the vanes would just flip over if put in backwards... I guess not...

Guess we all learn something new every day. Local shop was gonna charge $95 X 2.5 hours to change the impeller. Buddy did it in 30 min + I know how to do it myself now lol
