After several months of small payments and patiently waiting I will be bringing home my new 1966 Starcraft 18' Holiday this evening. Boat comes with a pair of nice down riggers, marine radios, misc accessories and 2 Merc 110hp i/o motors. One is rebuilt and still wrapped in plastic and the other can be used for parts. I haven't decide weather I want to keep it an i/o or seal it up and buy a motor bracket and convert it into and outboard. I have a basic mechanical knowledge, but have never undertaken a full motor install before. I will have some pics this evening to share.

Well here they are. The interior trim is in great shape . But the rest will need some tlc. Tomorrow I'll inventory the parts and accessories. Here are the pics.

Forgot go add that the bow actually has a hatch. 1st one I've seen so far on a holiday.

Spent the all day on her. There was alot if moss build up from the boat sitting under pinetrees and sap to go along with it. But I came out ahead in the end. I really love the front hatch. It adds some character. I didn't have a chance to inventory all the parts. It's on the hit list for tomorrow. I did manage to scrub off the 4 piece cover, but discovered one of the brackets was broken, for now it will work as a good full cover. Tomorrows another day. :)

Welcome Kassun. Cleaned up well but still a ways to go. When I saw that forward deck and the crud... The hatch is unusual but looks original. The hull looks fine, no dents visible from pics. Your possible conversion from IO to out has been done by some here. Not too hard from what I have seen.

Looking forward to seeing progress.

Here are the 2 motors one rebuilt and the other one I am told has been redone also. I'm going to order a manual this week. At this point I am a tad overwhelmed by the motors and all the pieces ;) .

Nice boat! and it's cleaning up well. Despite my aversion to I/O's, given that yours is a Merc setup and you've got a good motor, I think I'd stick with the I/O.

Starcrafter65: My wife works at the local university in the Library and ordered it a few days back.

Ezmobee: I have the manual coming, hopefully in a week or so. It's a bit intimidating looking at all the parts laying around and the job ahead of me. I am very comfortable as far as the restoration side goes, but the motor install has me a bit nervous. But i suppose with everything, the manual should help :).

This weekend I am going to pull up the floor and clean the rest out. I hope to start the interior painting next weekend.

Are you planning on applying Gluvit to your rivets and seams? I recommend it.

Nice rig Kassun, you are really bringing this one back from the brink:) Nice job on the bow deck clean up.

The bow hatch is rare and awesome, it looks like they may have had a fuel tank up there with that vent hose?

Hard to say on the conversion, EZ is right that the Merc I/O's are the better to run, but I'd be looking for a way to rig her with an OB since you would have tons more interior space.

Good luck on the project!

All the closed bows in the 60's had those hatches. How else you gonna drop anchor?

Looks great I love the chrome instrument cluster and power trim bezel, the hatch is pretty cool too. And you cant beat the durability of a lunerman hull.
Also love the handjob wiper, lose the cancer sticks for your own good.

Yep. After i get the floor all pulled up I'll Gulvit all the rivets and seams before installing new foam and the floor. I have been looking at using the vinyl instead of carpeting since it will serve primarily for fishing. I have only found one hole, it in the bow where the previous owner installed an eye bolt.

I am still playing around with a layout. I am thinking of having just 2 pedestals up front 2 just behind them that I can take out for room and 2 collapsible seats on either side if the dog house. Then for when it's used to go cruise a removable table between the rear and dog house seats. It's still early and I am sure plans will change. I like the fact that I can start from a clean slate.

Agreed it's a bad habit.

Here are some closer pics of the gauge clusters.
