Force 40 (1997) Power Trim Relay Question

Hello,

Do the (2) power trim replays work independently or dependently. I?m having an issue with the intermittent lowering of my power trim( sometimes it works /sometimes it doesn't). I have swapped the relays however the intermittent problem is still there on the lowering of the power trim. I have jumped the trim motor and that works fine.

Thanks,
John

Assuming a 2w motor.
They work as a team. One of them will switch to ground and the other to positive. Blue is positive for up. They flip-flop and green becomes positive for down.

Ok if that?s the case then: If it doesn?t work lowering first, then in theory if I switch the relays it shouldn?t work going up.

not really. it means that you have to test for both +12v and ground in order to reach a conclusive result.

Hmmm, I thinking it might be easier to pick up another relay and swap it out between the two and see if that takes care of it. I couldnt have two bad relays / ?

since it worked when you jumped it and the problem is intermittent then relays would definitely be at the top of my suspect list ... right behind loose wire.

Replaced one relay and the problem went away. Thanks for the help.
