I wouldn't like coming in an inlet or river in a following sea or current with my tabs down. They can be your best friend or your worse enemy.

I have Bennett tabs on a 21 footer. I often need to adjust them for different water or when someone moves to the other side of the boat. If you do not like the kidney pounding just bow down a little you can really smooth the ride. When in smooth water adjust for speed and when your coming up to a wake bow down. I too have never read anything bad about smart tabs and considered them when I purchased mine. I hate to buy something then figure out i needed more. Just my opinion. I do spend most of my time in the Gulf of Mexico but also fish Lake Sabine as well as the ICW.

Same here, you get what you pay for, I have Lencos and when I run an inlet or have a significant following sea, I pull my tabs up, like you are supposed too and while these freshwater guys may love the Smartietabs, if they ever get into running an inlet, that might find themselves upside down, see how they like them then.

Hi, I have a 1998 Searay 215 Express Cruiser. It takes a very long time to get onto the plane. When my trim is all the way down It wont get onto the plane at all. Im looking into trim tabs and I don't know what type to get. The Options are Bennett Sport Tabs, Nauticus Smart Tabs or Smart Tabs SX???

Hello Synergy,

I am Tom from Bennett Marine. Of course I am biased towards remotely adjustable Trim Tabs, Bennett in particular :) . But seriously remotely adjustable Trim Tabs will allow you a lot mor options when it comes to getting your SeaRay to get on plane faster as well as trimming out the ride for different sea conditions, load distribution and speed settings.

Just about every day on the water is different and using Trim Tabs that are adjustable from the helm will allow you to get the best ride. Personally just being able to let your passengers (family) sit where they want instead of balancing out the boat with their weight is worth it!

A set of 10" x 12" M120 Trim Tabs (or a comparable size if you chose another brand) would be a great choice for your SeaRay.

I would be delighted to answer any questions you might have about Trim Tab systems.

I have had Bennett trim tabs for 5 years now with no issues. The boat is used in salt water and the pump sits in an location exposed to the elements. (I have an outboard so there is no engine cover to install the pump under.)

I boat in constantly changing sea conditions and find myself adjusting the tabs regularily.

I've got Frankie's back on this one. The operative difference is the OP's boat is a day cruiser. Higher profile, more susceptible to wind, heavier than a day boat and probably carrying a lot of extras. Nothing wrong with Smart tabs on something smaller, but when you get into cruisers, balance is a different game. The Bennetts are the right choice in this world. Love mine on my 23' Carver mid cabin, it's nice to be able to trim out for load and wind changes.

Absolutely Bennet or other adjustable trim tabs on a 21' boat. Not even a question.

I wouldn't like coming in an inlet or river in a following sea or current with my tabs down. They can be your best friend or your worse enemy.
There are certain conditions that having Smart Tabs would be downright dangerous.
