For many boats it's in the neighborhood of 12 degrees, but that can vary. Here's how to measure it

What they're doing with their "calculator" is high school trig. You've got a right triangle, with 2 known sides. In the example they show (9 inches and 2 inches) you take the inverse tangent of 2 / 9 and get 12.5 degrees.

I'm looking
for the transom angle, and according to metriccrescentwrench's link it's 12. can you explain where the 14 came from?
