I'll let the experts chime in as to the why's but could it be the gas cap? Try taking it off and seeing if it runs better. There is some sort of filter in there than can get clogged and will create a vacuum and gas will stop flowing.

Re: 1988 galaxy 3.0 running problems

guess it could be something to do with vacumm in the fuel tank...check your fuel vent mebbe

what happens when you shut down (lets say at the beach you arrived at) then start up a few minutes later...does it run good again for a bit then? mebbe carb float is adjusted a bit low? starving fuel mebbe.....or replace inline fuel filter

hey we need more info...
when you baby it back to dock how is it running ? (is it missing...or just bogging?)
and how fast are you going when you say you can baby it back to the dock ? (rpms or mph)

Re: 1988 galaxy 3.0 running problems

So after a long period of time a day or so will it start and run fine again? If so try to see if your fuel system vent is clogged it's usually located in the fuel cap and or there is a seperate line leading from the tank to open air the purpose of this line and or vent is to release any build up of pressure in your fuel cell. Imagine trying to suck air through a straw and then put your finger over it. If infact there is a clog it will prevent the pumping action of the fuel pump to the carb and starve it of fuel. It could also be something in the lines of compression loss???
