I have a 1987 Suzuki DT 200 that will not get over 2500 rpm's(In gear). I have done extensive reserch & diagnosis on this problem.I have a manual and I am pretty sure I know whats wrong, but I guess I am not smart enough to "FOOL" this thing. The oil level sensor seems to be fine, ohmed out. Have inspected all wiring. Gauge on dash is showing low oil level & engine is in "Limp" mode. The oil level reset switch doesnt seem to change anything. What I cant figure out is that I tryed to make the oil gauge read oil level by completing the circits simulating oil level full & it still wont read oil level. Could it be the gauge causing the problem? Possibly the oil level module? I cant believe I cant fool this thing. Anyone played with this primitive ,pre fuel injection "Smart" system?

I could be wrong but I seem to remember reading somewhere that you need to press the oil level reset switch while the engine is running or the ignition is on - something along those lines.

Replace the oil flow sensor in-line under the oil reservoir, and take out the oil level switch and give it a good clean ....

Re: Suzuki low oil level sensor issue

Thanks for the input guys, I did try the bypass & it did nothing. I will look at the oil flow sensor, however the oil flow light on the dash was not on. Only the low oil level & the rev limit light were on. Just think it's weird that the oil level over ride didn't change anything. I can see oil flow through the clear tubes going into the cylinder, but is it enough? Will check/ change the oil flow sensor to make sure. Anyone know where the ignition gets it's signal to cut rpm for this system? Reyes bypassing the module, could a bad module cause this since it won't reset?
