Re: engine stalls out at wot

I have a new female fuel connector at the motor but it does'nt fit completely flush at the base on the male connector.I don't know if this is normal but every female connector fits this way.

it won't be flush...push till it "clicks". If it's not making a good seal, it'll either leak fuel, or you can hear it wheezing when you squeeze the bulb. Now, if it's not going on just right, it can hold or leak as the hose gets moved around.

The male connectors can be replaced, too, if need be.

Is it a name brand BRP (or mercury marine or yamaha) primer bulb? some of the aftermarket brands have a poor reputation for reliability.

Very easy to check the fuel pump.

1) Pull the safety lanyard so the motor can't start
2) Disconnect the pump outlet hose
3) Crank engine ... should get long strong spurts, any less is reason to replace/rebuild

OR

Put a pressure gauge teed into pump outlet line ... should read ~ 3 to 6 psig on a good pump.

update for the night shift.

I got in touch with the tech that rebuilt the carbs on it. I brought it over on my lunch hour. He's going to check it out for me. I have been getting in too late to fumble around in the dark with this thing. I will post an update when he lets me know what he finds.
Thanks for all the help everyone.I'll keep you posted on what the gremlin is.
