Please help, What year is my Johnson 65, plus need a tale tall

Hi,
I have got a Johnson 65hp outboard,
could anyone tell me the age, its 3 cylinders, umm its got a leaver on the front that i can move to choke on, choke auto or choke off, cant think how else to help discribe it.

Plus i was worry that i could not see if the water was going round as no pee hole out the side, and now seen i can add one on the top.
could anyone tell me how to do it right on my johnson 65 hp, i do have a machanic to help me do it

You need to list your model number, that is what is needed to cross reference your engine.
You can do a search on the tell-tale, they are not hard to install, you can look on a parts breakdown of an engine that as one and get the parts you need.

thank you for the reply,
there is no serial plate as such, but i have located a number on the side of the engine block its self, printed in 313407, would that be it?

Plus does anyone know a web site so i can order the right parts for the tale tall bit that fits in the top of the engine

The number that you posted does not cross, is it a 2,3 or 4 cylinder?
It does not have the model/serial number plate on the transom clamp?
Look for a silver disc on the engine block, about the size of a quarter, will have numbers on it, what are they?

ok, i think i found it, by the lifting eye,
55.E.S.L.69a
B001929

The number 1 about could be a 4 but its hard to see
and its 3 cylinder

You have a 1969 55hp.
Look at a parts breakdown of a newer 3 cylinder engine with a tell-tale and get the parts you need to install it.

what speed am i looking at on a 16ft dateline bikini

I have no idea, to many variables, boat weight, hull design, engine trim, engine at proper WOT RPM, amount of weight in the boat and so on.

You could go to the OEM web site to look at parts breakdowns, just remember that your engine did not come with a tell-tale so it will not show the parts you need. You will probably have to go to the mid 80's to find the parts you need.
Did you try a search on the forum to see if someone has already done it and maybe listed the parts you need?
About all you need is the fitting on the engine, a piece of hose and the grommet for the hose to exit the cowling.

yeah i have found someone that posted a step by step guid on here to put one on, so am going to try and find out the right place to drill one in,

Try and get the fitting as high on the exhaust cover as possiable.
