Overheat sensor?

I have a 1966 40HP Evinrude Big Twin. I noticed I have a wire coming out of the block by the cylinder heads. Its by the lower cylinder. I was wondering if this is a over heat sensor. This motor was disconnected from the boat it was on when I bought so I can't reference where the wire goes. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Tan/Brown before I painted it white

It's the temp sw lead. It activates the hot horn.

Thanks Jim, I'll look into this. I'm guessing it is supposed to go to a light/LED. Now that I know what it is I should be able to reference this in the service manual. Thanks again.
