Hi, the previous owner neglected this boat and motor. when i bought it and inspected it it had water in # 3 and is rusty throughout. the engine oil even has water in it. i used trans fluid in it to try to free it up but got nothing. i tried turning the motor over with a pry bar but still cannot get it to loosen up. the only other thing i know to do is remove the engine and start to re-build it. well i have everything dis connected from the motor but cannot tell how it un bolts from the back of the boat. its still connected to the drive and everything. can anyone tell me how to finish the removal? its bolted to a plate in the rear which i am assuming goes to the drive. does anyone have any diagrams of this kind of motor? thanks in advance

You need to remove the drive first , shift into fwd, remove rams, 6 mounting nuts , pull straight back
remove the front motor mount lags, fuel line, control cables, exaust tube clamps, any bonding wires ,water inlet hose, rear motor mount bolts, lift straight up and out.

sorry, i should have said i am new to boats and this is my first :) the drive is what goes in the water right? as far as the motor in the boat everything is disconnected but it is still attached to a plate which i am assuming goes to the drive? will the motor come out without the drive coming out?

no....it wont.

once the drive is out. there are two bolts at the back of the motor that bolt the motor to the transom plate. those two bolts must come out.

as well as everything mentioned above.

pulling a motor in a boat is easy and fast. can be done in less than 1/2 hour if you know what you are doing. and have the tools/ hoist

btw....that motor is shot.....and i dont think it can be rebuilt as the black is more than likely cracked.....im convinced that the manifold is toast as well and that is a HUGE thing in marine motors.

i would start shopping around for another 3l MARINE motor
