I had someone clean my carbs on my 85 force 85hp after theboat sat for 3 years. I learned to never do that again. Since the boat has been running great until the other day my top carburetor started flooding out and filling with gas I replace the bowl gasket, the seat and needle and just today I replaced the float but still the carburetor is still flooding out and gas is pouring out of the top of the bowl. Does anyone on here have any ideas as to what I can do or what might be wrong. appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks dee

Re: carburetor problem

Dee,
when you replaced the float did you make sure that it was leveled properly? Should hang parallel to the carb body when you have the carb off and turned upside down.

Re: carburetor problem

If it's still commong out the overflow then the needle seat is wrong/ in wrong / something in it.The needle tip might be damaged. The seat damaged.

Re: carburetor problem

its not coming out of the overflow it is coming out of the top of the bowl. I have replaced the float the seat the needle and the bowl gasket I was told that maybe the bowl gasket is bad even though I just purchased it so I am going to replace that again if this does not work I am at a total loss.

I'm no expert here but I would double check to make sure you have the correct needle and seat kit. Also, I heard no mention of any kind of a small gasket/spacer between the body of the carb where the needle housing threads to the carb body and the needle housing itself. (If one is needed.)

Re: carburetor problem

thanks for all the help after replacing the needle and seat for the 3rd time I found out the the hole that the needle and seta set into was bad so I had to replace the carburetor completely now it works great.
Now I find out that my starter is sticking on the stator I had to tap it a couple times to disengaged so the boat would start today. Any ideas does this mean my starter is going bad? I was told that sometimes this can happen and it may never happen again.
