Cool thing about efi is that when something is wrong, the 'brain' is either telling it to do it, or the system doesn't know it's doing it. (if that makes sense)
By "telling it" something I mean it could be:
1. temp sensor saying the engine is cold therefore enacting the richening system
2. the fuel pressure is too high therefore squirting more fuel for each pulse (not likely if no one has played with the tune)
3. incoming air is choked off.
By "not knowing" that it's doing anything wrong could be:
1. leaking fuel injector(s)
2. timing/fuel tables not set correctly
there is no mechanical adjustment that I know of other than cleaning/replacing the air filter, fuel filter etc.
You should try to get a code reader for it and see what codes have been logged.
